If I stay on the NBN network, my other devices (laptops, iPhones) cannot Airplay to the AppleTV so this is not a solution.Ĭan anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to resolve? Everything was okay until a week ago and I am not aware of any specific event that occurred that may have caused this. We’ve also outlined the steps from the video in the instructions below. Until the issue last week, AppleTV is used daily with no issue. Updating to iOS 16 has made no difference, still cannot connect to the internet when connected to Eero. I discovered I was still on iOS 14.6 (auto update has always been on), but when checking for any software updates (whilst connected to the NBN router), it installed iOS 16 (whatever happened to iOS 15?). Or wait about 10 mins and it eventually returns to the Settings, Network screen. If (while connected to Eero) I then check to confirm the Network settings, I get the little animated spinning 'wheel' that spins and spins until I have to hold down the Menu button to return to the normal AppleTV interface. It can however connect to Home Sharing from my Mac Mini and see anything I have in my iTunes (Music/TV) library. If I change back to my Eero network, the AppleTV cannot connect to the internet. If I change to the NBN router, it can stream from the internet, even though I now only have 4 dots instead of 5. I have restarted the AppleTV multiple times now, no change, Connected but Not Connected. It has been connected to this network for about 12 months now, never an issue. I do not use the NBN router wireless network for anything.Ībout a week ago my 64gb 4K AppleTV decided it could no longer connect to the internet despite being connected to the internet (in Settings, connected to Eero network, 5 bars (dots), looks correct). From lights to smart plugs, Apple laptops and iPhones I have about 40 wifi devices connected to Eero without issue. And before there are suggestions that I may not actually be connecting to the correct network, take into consideration that I am a network engineer and design/troubleshoot networks for a living.ĪppleTV (4K) no longer connecting to wifi preferred network I have an Australian NBN reseller provided router which I then wirelessly connect to an Eero 'mesh' network of 4 devices throughout my house. Otherwise, I have done this daily without an issue up until this point.Īgain, they are all on the same wireless network (only wireless network in my home) and it’s only the Apple devices that can’t do this.Īn interesting note, I have the google wireless router and can’t seem either of the Apple devices listed as connected devices. Problem seems to be only with my Apple devices not seeing the option to cast to the Google devices which seems to have strayed within the last day or two. I also have a Windows laptop with the same (most up to date) version of Chrome browsers (same as the MacBook Pro) which can cast the tab perfectly fine. Google home can also control my smart lights. My google home can start a cast from voice command. Before you ask, they are on the same wireless network. if the Eve devices require Bonjour to work, why will they work for a few days, and then not?Īpple devices can no longer cast to chromecast I have an iPhone and a MacBook Pro that suddenly can no longer initiate casts on my chromecast. is there a way of testing if aforesaid Bonjour (or mDNS or Multicast) are functioning on my wifi system? (I've seen an Apple Developers' article, but it beyond my limited technical skills!)Īnd. Put simply, the manufacturer (BT) cannot say immediately. please check with the router manufacturer's support how to make sure it is not blocked at all." "the protocol Bonjour, often referred to as mDNS or Multicast. It can then be a struggle reconnecting.Įve ask if my wifi, which is a BT Whole Home mesh system (which is fast, rock solid and has excellent wifi strength) might be the problem saying: Most of the time it all plays nice, but occasionally it will all become unstable and disconnect from the Eve Extend and Apple TV HD. To improve Bluetooth reach I'm also using Eve Extend. Is Bonjour working? I've started using some HomeKit compatible accessories, such as this.
